Artist Reji Navasree. He made Maveli shown above from Thermocole (Styrofoam) and sandalwood paste. The garments and turban are done with flowers.

when i saw this,i remembered seeing another beautiful form of art,called-chingari/singari melam.saw it on tv during one of the tv onam shows.it was awsome.

Because it is a still photo in the post, one cannot make out - this is actually part of a singari melam. The whole sequence of it is beautiful.

Instead of the often stationary panchari and pandy performance, in singari the entire team keeps shifting positions. It is well choreographed and is fast gaining popularity.
