Locally this is called 'parijatham'. I don't think that is right.

The parijatham flower, has a pleasant yet a bit stronger fragrance similar to that of Jasmine.
ReplyDeleteThird one down is a Pseuderanthemum reticulatum known also as yellow veined eranthemum or a golden pseuderanthemum. Very common in the tropics.
ReplyDeleteThe 'nanthyarvattam' is called 'crepe jasmine' in English. Its Botanical name is Tabernaemontana divaricata.
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is of a Gardenia jasminoides, if I'm not mistaken. Also known as 'Cape Jasmine'.
They sound very similar, dont they. It must be very confusing when you want to go to a nursery and buy one.

i asked my mil,and she also thinks the last one is parijatham.i didnt know the name,but i love its fragrance.i thought it was in the same family as nanthyarvattam.

Parijatham is Har Singar, coral tree
or Pavizhamalli in Tamil Nyctanthes
