Anonymous, you have raised a pertinent question. I was not sure whether it is 'pala tree', and that is why a question mark was put on the caption. I thought that it is 'pala' because of the whorl which has around seven leaves.
I had previously posted comments as 'anonymous'. I am not an expert on this subject, but think that the name 'Ehilam Pala' refers to the configuration of its leaves, not the flowers. Found these two links.
